Project Description
This project creatively redefines a residential plot to include a commercial space, optimizing the site’s potential along a rapidly urbanizing roadside. The design skillfully adapts to the sloping terrain, integrating a subterranean warehouse beneath the plot through excavation. The spatial layout balances public and private zones, connected by a voluminous dining hall and courtyard that serve as the heart of the residence. A detached car porch along the north-south axis creates a seamless link between the front and rear yards, enhancing functionality and flow.
The design fosters a connection between built spaces and the natural environment. A skeletal stairway and undulating walls create a harmonious dialogue between interior and exterior, while double-height spaces amplify volume and visual connection across levels. The lack of free ground space is addressed by transforming the terrace into a shaded garden, offering a serene retreat. Landscaping is drawn toward the core of the house, blending seamlessly with the architecture to create inviting semi-public and recreational areas that align with the cardinal axis for optimal circulation and integration.
