Project Description
Designing a residential villa in Jodhpur presented a unique challenge: addressing the extreme climate, a compact plot, and an extensive project brief, all while adhering to Vastu principles. The restricted site, surrounded by adjoining buildings and bordered by roads on the north and east, necessitated a design prioritizing privacy and spatial openness. This was achieved through careful orientation, screens, courtyards, and landscaped features like gardens, decks, waterbodies, and terrace gardens. Floating steps lead to an inviting entrance, with cascading water sounds enhancing the serene ambiance. The villa’s striking wooden doors, double-height volumes, and architectural projections evoke the grandeur of Rajasthan's historic palaces and temples.
The villa’s layout integrates functionality and aesthetics. An open-plan design connects the living, dining, kitchen, and garden spaces, forming a harmonious public area. The living room’s double-height ceiling extends seamlessly to the courtyard, while L-shaped openable windows bring in natural light and ventilation. Sliding kitchen doors enhance flexibility, transforming spaces to suit the occasion. At night, the villa takes on a new character with mood lighting, a waterbody, lush landscapes, and a traditional wooden sculpture, creating a captivating blend of modern living and cultural heritage.
