Project Description
Nestled alongside a serene canal in the picturesque village of Siolim, North Goa, the Earth House harmonizes with its lush surroundings. Designed with earthy stone, teak wood, and shaded courtyards around preserved trees, the home exudes a grounded and tropical character. At its heart is a double-height living room extending into the landscape, forming a linear infinity pool framed by coconut palms. Semi-open bays for the dining, kitchen, and bar dissolve the boundaries between indoors and outdoors, embracing the canal views and fostering a sense of openness. Entry to the house is through a custom teakwood louvered door, leading to a warm veranda and an adjacent courtyard that floods the interiors with natural light.
The interiors celebrate local craftsmanship with elements like a sculptural Fibonacci-inspired spiral staircase, cane furniture, and reused teakwood accents. The living room’s sliding doors connect seamlessly to the pool, while vibrant Goan-Portuguese cement flooring and raw wooden furniture enrich the dining and kitchen spaces. Outdoor patios with semi-shaded pavilions enhance the tropical experience, offering tranquil spaces to relax and enjoy the canal’s verdant edge. Thoughtfully blending local materials and design sensibilities, the Earth House is a serene retreat, deeply rooted in its Goan context.
