Forest of Joy
Project Description
Anandvan is a seamless blend of form, functionality, and aesthetics, creating a holistic living experience in harmony with nature. Nestled on the outskirts of Ahmedabad, this residence for a family of five is surrounded by lush greenery on three sides, offering a sanctuary that balances privacy, comfort, and environmental sensitivity. Its design philosophy prioritizes both human well-being and nature, integrating water, foliage, and strategic orientation to enhance functionality and climatic comfort. Positioned with a northern orientation, the entrance ensures a smooth transition between professional and personal spaces, while the placement of bedrooms and the kitchen in the south and southeast optimizes natural daylight without excessive heat gain, maintaining energy efficiency.
Materiality plays a key role in defining Anandvan’s architectural character. Exposed brick and reinforced concrete lend strength and elegance, complemented by full-height glass that dissolves boundaries between the indoors and outdoors. Thoughtful design elements, such as a water passage enhancing airflow, a north verandah flanked by a reflective pond, and an outdoor dining table with an integrated waterfall, contribute to a tranquil and immersive living experience. These water features introduce a rhythmic serenity, while the library corner adds a contemplative retreat within the home. Anandvan’s design stands as a benchmark in holistic architecture, where every element works in synergy to create a timeless, nature-connected living space.
