Project Description

The House of Concrete Walls redefines the concept of a home by merging the essence of a weekend retreat with the practicality of urban living. Set within a gated community surrounded by dense urban fabric, the house seeks to immerse its inhabitants in the serenity of nature while maintaining a strong connection to the outside world. At its core are two bold, orthogonally placed exposed concrete walls that anchor the spatial design. These textured walls create a dynamic visual effect, softening their robust presence while guiding the layout of the linear structure. The recessed upper level opens generously to the garden, enhancing the seamless blend of indoor and outdoor spaces through expansive openings, skylights, and strategic plays of light and shadow.

The design fosters a dialogue between spaces, beginning with a ceremonial flight of steps framed by concrete walls leading to the sunlit entrance foyer. The layout balances formal and family living areas, each interacting fluidly with adjacent gardens and decks. The double-height courtyard, illuminated by a circular skylight, serves as the home's heart, featuring a custom concrete coffee bar and offering panoramic views of the garden and living areas. A floating concrete staircase leads to the upper level, housing bedrooms, a gym, and a terrace overlooking the lush outdoors. Thoughtful details like skylights in the master bedroom and bathrooms infuse the spaces with natural light, while cut-outs and recessed elements enhance the interplay of textures and materials, creating a sanctuary that resonates with warmth, openness, and modern sophistication.
