Project Description
Located in the northern outskirts of Bangalore, in the developing town of Devanahalli, this weekend getaway home is designed to offer a seamless connection with nature. The irregular 4000 sq. ft corner plot is surrounded by gardens, and the building is strategically planned as an L-shaped structure that embraces the garden courtyard within. The ground floor is intentionally left largely unbuilt, enhancing the connection between the house and the lush green surroundings. The design lifts the built mass 8 feet off the ground, offering unobstructed views of the expansive greenery, while also fostering an open, garden-like living experience.
The home is organized around a central double-height stair that divides the building into two functional halves. The southern portion houses the living, dining, kitchen, and a master bedroom, while the northern portion, connected via an outdoor corridor, includes two additional bedrooms and an outdoor dining and party area. The carefully designed courtyard, open along two longer edges, ensures natural light and ventilation flow throughout the house. The façade is crafted to optimize daylight while maintaining privacy and cooling, featuring double-skin jute and resin composite louvers with pivoted shutters and glass sliding windows. This thoughtful design harnesses the region’s natural elements, offering a retreat that balances seclusion and connectivity with its surroundings.
