Project Description
The terracotta house stands as a serene oasis, fostering a dialogue with its neighbor, the Gupta residence. A seamless blend of neutral grey concrete and earthy terracotta, the façade is enveloped by terracotta tiles that offer a glimpse of the lives within, while creating a harmonious connection to the surrounding greenery and walkway. This abode, housing a multi-generational family of five, is imbued with a warmth that mirrors the family’s welcoming nature. The color palette, featuring whites and earthy tones, creates an inviting atmosphere, with a double-height entrance lobby making a bold first impression.
The house is designed with distinct floors that cater to different generations while ensuring visual and functional connection. The ground and first floors serve the seniors, with a striking double-height onyx wall linking the two spaces. An informal living area on the ground floor flows seamlessly into the first, symbolized by an artwork that represents the family tree. This space connects to both a swing and a garden, fostering a deep sense of continuity. A double-height formal living area challenges traditional proportions, featuring five paintings on a concrete wall that depict the city’s skyline, culminating in the residence itself. The minimalist approach in the design, with low-height furniture and a stone wall continuing onto the dining table, emphasizes the room’s scale. Natural light floods the space through a horizontal window, and a Davide Groppi tape light enhances the artwork in the evening. The carefully curated lighting installations, including those in the dining area, bring sophistication and poise to the space, completing the unconventional aesthetic of the home.
